Development

The game is developed by Ubisoft Montreal in conjunction with Ubisoft Massive and Ubisoft Shanghai, like the second game and unlike the first game which was developed by Crytek, the developer famous for being the maker of the Crysis series.
According to the Official PlayStation Magazine,[Full citation needed] Far Cry 3 was due for release at the end of 2011 as the following quote suggested, "Start taking the malaria medicine in preparation: Far Cry 3 could be arriving before the end of the year." This statement was withdrawn in next month's edition where it was stated that the game would be shown on 2011's E3 and that the release date would be bumped back to 2012. The first official trailer was released at the 2011 E3 conference on June 6, 2011.
It is also confirmed that Far Cry 3 will be running on the Dunia Engine, the tech used for the previous game, Far Cry 2, but will be using advanced water tech to give an in depth experience to the game.
Ubisoft Reflections have announced that they are helping on the development of Far Cry 3. They announced this via their Twitter page on December 5, 2011.
